atm, we know that: capturing video with sound from the webcam using streamer from [http://linux.bytesex.org/xawtv/ xawtv] works. 
capturing at 15fps QCIF- 176x144px. encoding MJPEG, container AVI. file size is apprx. 2.4Mb/min
